Belinda Bolliger began her career in the children’s publishing industry more than thirty years ago, first as a sub-editor at The Law Book Company and later as a magazine editor at Scholastic, then known as Ashton Scholastic. It was there that she fell in love with children’s books, captivated by picture books such as My Dearest Dinosaur by Margaret Wild and Donna Rawlins, and Scallywag by Jeanette Rowe. Two years later, she attended the inaugural Children’s Book Council conference, and her career path was set.
Since then, she has worked as an editor and publisher for HarperCollins and Hachette, before becoming Editorial Manager for Australian Standing Orders, where she reviewed and selected new releases for schools across the country.
Over the years, she has been privileged to work with some of Australia’s most beloved and respected children’s creators, including Alison Lester, Garry Disher, Libby Hathorn, Frances Watts, Judith Rossell, Matt Ottley and Glenda Millard.
Today, Belinda works as a literary agent, freelance editor and mentor, helping both emerging and established children’s creators develop their ideas, strengthen their manuscripts and find the right publishing path.
